»History in the Present« Project Work Continues, Stavárna Goes to France
After the summer we returned to school to continue in our education and also to carry on the work on our Comenius HISTORY IN THE PRESENT Project. The team (Lenka, Vlaďka, Tomáš, Mirek a David accompanied by three teachers) went to do some research and spoke to some key people who were involved in restoration and reconstruction of our three chosen historical buildings.
First, we went to meet some representatives of České Budějovice Diocese, Mrs. Timrová, Mr. Smolek and Mr. Mrosko, who gave us a lot of useful information about recently finished restoration of St. Nicholas Cathedral. They showed us photographs and designs of the work, and also showed us round the cathedral and the bishop‘s garden.
Then we met Mr. Martin Pražák, a co-owner and investor of the reconstruction of the house at 5 Krajinská Str. in České Budějovice, a building with fascinating history. It has been a soap workshop (the oldest known in the country), a vinegar factory and store, and finally a restaurant.
Our third presentation was going to be about another old and recently unused historical building – originally a large farmhouse in the village of Mirkovice, part Svachova Lhotka, near Český Krumlov. When we arrived at the spot, Mr. Cvach, the owner, told us about the history of the building and its latest conversion into a golf and wellness resort which also has its own microbrewery. Their beer tasted really good!
We discovered interesting connections, for example Mirkovice is in an area, where in the spring 1945, three army groups operated – first the Vlasov‘s Russian Liberation Army, then the Russian Red Army, and finally, the U.S. Army.
Another interesting piece of information, even older, goes back to the end of the XIXth cent. – Egon Schiele, an important Austrian Art Nouveau artist, had family roots in this village.
Also, the ČeskéBudějovice – Linz horse-drawn railway had one of its stations nearby. How this modern (in 1830s) way of travelling changed the life of many people in Mirkovice, we could read in the village chronicle.
After the visits we went on to work on the presentations, which we wanted to show to our peers in France.
Our journey started on Saturday, 28th September. From Prague we took a ČSA flight and arrived at Paris Roissy Charles de Gaulle. Then we got on the TGV train and headed south-west. After staying one night at the city of Tours on the river Loire (noted for the cathedral, Basilica of St. Martin, a well-known art gallery, and the battle of Tours). On the next day we continued our journey to the town of Surgeres, where our partners waited to take us to their homes.
The meeting of all partners (from France, Poland, Spain and Turkey) began on Monday morning at school. After a warm welcome by Mr. Piveteau we were put into international teams and taken on a tour of the school. We had to perform various tasks, and we had a lot of fun. After lunch we walked to the city centre to the Royal Ropery – a unique, 17h century, over 300-metre-long building, where ropes for ships were made in the past. Also we explored the Hermione, a full-size replica of an 18th century frigate, which took the French general Lafayette to America to help the colonists in their War of Independence against the British. In April 2015, the new Hermione plans to make a return voyage to the USA, starting in Rochefort.
On Tuesday the presentations on the project started. The French, Polish, Spanish, Turkish and Czech teams took turns to show their chosen historical monuments and the results of their research. In the afternoon we were taken to the port and city of La Rochelle. In the evening there was a party at the school student home with buffet and music – live students’ band.
On Wednesday morning the presentations went on, and after lunch we took a long trip (by bus and boat) to the island of Aix (passing Fort Boyard on our way), where we explored a former naval base, which now includes two museums – one on Africa and one on Napoleon Bonaparte, who was a prisoner here in 1815, before being sent to Saint Helena after having lost the battle of Waterloo.
Thursday morning we spent in Rochefort itself. There was a guided tour of the city with tasks which we performed in our small international teams. We also had an official reception at Rochefort Town Hall. In the afternoon we worked at the school again, putting together photos and other material collected during our stay in and around Rochefort. The evening and night were spent at a resort, called Fontaine Lupin. All the groups enjoyed a delicious dinner of seafood and ice-cream. The dance and fun went on long into the night …
On Friday we said goodbye to our hosts and took a TGV to Paris, where we stayed one more day to explore the city and its historical monuments. We also went to see the modern La Defense business district to see not only the HISTORY, but also the PRESENT.

Projekt HISTORY IN PRESENT úspěšně odstartoval
Na přelomu ledna a února vyjela skupina 4 studentek a 2 učitelů do anglického města King's Lynn na setkání s účastníky z partnerských škol z Itálie, Španělska a domácí College of West Anglia.
Počasí bylo velmi příznivé, nemrzlo a pršelo jen málo, a tak jsme mohli využít náš čas na poznávání památek a zajímavých míst Londýna, King's Lynnu, Cambridge a Hunstantonu v hrabství Norfolk.
Studentky z hostitelské college pro nás připravily pracovní listy s úkoly, s jejichž pomocí jsme daná místa objevovali a poznávali. Studenti a studentky všech čtyř zúčastněných škol pak prezentovali své školy, města a vybrané historické památky. Naše výprava představila českobudějovickou katedrálu sv. Mikuláše, s jejíž právě probíhající rekonstrukcí nás před naší cestou seznámil autor projektu přestavby Ing. arch. Kročák.

Dvouletý projekt partnerství škol Comenius se týká historických památek a jejich místa v životě dnešních mladých lidí. V tomto roce se ještě chystáme na setkání v Turecku, Polsku a Francii.
V tomto školním roce startuje projekt Partnerství škol Comenius, který se naší škole podařilo získat na období 2012-2014.
Cílem programu je rozvíjet porozumění mezi mladými lidmi z různých evropských zemí, pomáhat jim osvojit si základní životní dovednosti nezbytné pro jejich osobní rozvoj, pro jejich budoucí zaměstnání a pro aktivní účast v evropských záležitostech.
Žákům a učitelům naší školy se nabízí možnost podniknout v roce 2012-14 celkem čtyři zahraniční cesty do našich partnerských škol ve Velké Británii, Turecku, Polsku a Francii. Dalšími účastníky projektu jsou školy ze Španělska, Německa a Itálie. S jejich studenty se seznámíme na našich cestách do hostitelských zemí a se všemi dohromady pak na velkém setkání na závěr projektu, které bude hostit naše škola.
Cesty (tzv."mobility") studentů i učitelů, i další náklady s projektem spojené jsou plně hrazeny z grantu Partnerství škol Comenius, tedy Evropskou unií. Kromě cestování se účastníci budou podílet i na dalších činnostech v době mezi výjezdy do zahraničí - budou vytvářet profil naší školy, plnit úkoly vyplývajících z programu návštěv, a zajišťovat program závěrečného setkání.
Projekt má pracovní název HiP. Hop už ale ne, takže o hudbě to nebude :-) Je to anglická zkratka pro "History in Present" a je pro žáky, kteří
- mají vztah k historii a památkám a zároveň rádi cestují
- jsou schopni a chtějí komunikovat anglicky
- mají slušné IT dovednosti
- umějí kreslit, malovat, fotografovat a filmovat
- iniciativní, tvořiví a pracovití
- otevření, vstřícní a tolerantní k cizím kulturám
- komunikativní, samostatní a přátelští
a jsou
Naše žáky čekají cesty do partnerských škol a setkání s jejich vrstevníky, kteří nám budou představovat své město a jeho památky a společně pak budeme všichni dohromady zjišťovat, zda jsou to pro mladé lidi budovy živé či mrtvé a jestli by se s tím případně nedalo něco udělat. Konkrétně - bude se kreslit, fotografovat, točit filmy, studovat architektura, technické, ekonomické, kulturní a turistické souvislosti, důležitá bude i prezentace projektu na webu školy a v místních médiích. Bude se i sportovat a hlavně - potkávat se, poznávat a bavit (se). Nakonec dojde třeba i na ten hip hop...
Komunikačním jazykem je angličtina, výhodou bude i znalost dalších jazyků. Předpokládá se, že studenti budou na cestách bydlet u svých hostitelů. Kde to nebude možné, budeme bydlet v hostelech či dalších ubytovacích zařízeních. Výběr studentů do projektu (celkem asi 20 účastníků) bude záviset na tom, zda žáci projeví o práci na projektu zájem a zda budou doporučeni učiteli - třídními, angličtiny, dějepisu a odborných předmětů.
